The rain and cold weather may slow things down, but the garden is still trucking along. This month, we've harvested over 15 pounds of just lettuce alone! Carrots, radishes, and turnips are popping out of the ground, pea pods are hanging off the vine, and baby squash and zucchinis are starting to come in.
Where has all this produce go? Our volunteers get first pick! Your hard work pays off in the form of fresh veggies and fruits to take home. However, most of our produce goes to food banks around town, giving fresh food to those who need it most. One food bank told us fresh vegetables are a huge treat - they go faster than ice cream! You can get in on the action by joining us at the garden Tuesdays 3-6 pm. Or if your hands are full with your own garden at home, consider donating some of your surplus to a food bank near you!
