It's is hard to believe that next week is the beginning of June! As the weather gets warmer andour garden beds are filling up, we will be taking extra care to keep the garden well-watered. This is why our first project of the month will be to expand our water system. Through our partnerships with The ARC of Grays Harbor and Adam Stringer, our Evergreen State College intern, we are able to design and purchase materials to extend water access to the far end of the garden. This expansion will allow Cultivating Roots staff and Pacific Court tenants to reach the tenant garden beds and the edge beds containing berry bushes, beans, and tomatoes with a hose instead of making several trips from one end of the garden to the other with a watering can. Our hope is that this project will improve the sustainability of the Cultivating Roots garden. So come out at the usual time and day next week (Monday 3:00-5:00pm) and help us break ground on this important project for our garden!
